Trick-or-treat in a 1929 Chenard & Walcker 1500 Grand Sport

Are you planning on trick-or-treating tonight? Or lighting a bonfire, apple bobbing, telling scary stories and watching horror films? Maybe you are preparing other Halloween related activities today as carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns.

1929 Chenard & Walcker 1500 Grand Sport

Wouldn`t it be good fun to drive around the neighbourhood tonight when it is all dark in this 1929 Chenard & Walcker 1500 Grand Sport? Dressed up in a Halloween costume, making some noise and frighten some people… Or just to make an impressive entrée at a Helloween party. You know what we mean right, with cobwebs and skeletons hanging everywhere.

This Type Y7 was discovered in the 60`s by historian and collector Serge Pozzoli. He knew there were at this time two other “Torpedo” models around and kept this one in his Museum of Gerier (in France) until his death in 1992. In February 1994 his extraordinary collection was sold at auction and the car was purchased by a Parisian.

The Chenard & Walcker was back then still in a totally original condition and was not used for a long long time. As the engine was in a very bad state and also work needed to be done to the body, the car went to a garage in Gennevilliers, a few hundred meters from his birthplace. After all the work was carried out, the family very much enjoyed the car and participated in different rallies and proudly exhibited their beloved pre-war.

In 2013 the car was sold by Osenat and changed hands to its current owner. He completely checked the car, restored the gearbox and made this Grand Sport ready to drive (again). This Chenard & Walcker with chassis number 75531 has been part of various beautiful French collections and is very well documented. The car is estimated between €100 000 - €130 000.

Serge Pozzoli ones said: "interesting cars always end up in those who deserve them." We do not totally agree with this, but we do hope on Sunday the 11th of November 2018 when the car will be auctioned by Osenat, this beautiful 1929 Chenard & Walcker 1500 Grand Sport ends up with someone who will enjoy and actually uses the car. Whether this is to go to a Helloween party or to just drive around the block...

Halloween! I think it was Bunty Scott-Moncrieff who, on Halloween, had a totally black costume with a skeleton painted on it in luminous paint and used to drive round his neighbourhood at great speed on a great big Edwardian, frightening the life out of old ladies, and dogs!
