Two early automobiles in the snow
Who is up for a bit of snow fun? Perhaps you have taken the old girl out for a cold but enjoyable tour. Please share this winter fun with other classic car enthusiasts! The photo we see here is one that we particularly like. It is taken on Cariboo Road in British Colombia and this place is a hotspot for lots of pictures of carriages and early motorcars. Why do we like this freezing one a lot? Well, just take a look at what we see.
A group of warmly-dressed people and two early automobiles. A gentleman is pouring liquid into the radiator (maybe something alcoholic to prevent freezing). The man standing between the two cars looks like he could also do with a drink. The source tells us the picture was taken by Frank Cyril Swannell, near 105 Mile House, on 28 November 1912. Who can tell us about the two PreWarCars we see in the picture? And what would be a good caption to summarize the situation?

It looks to be a mild day in 'the great white north'. Coats are unbuttoned and one or two are not wearing mitts. The second man from the left is wearing what looks to be a full length beaver fur coat. The man third from the left is wearing a Hudson's Bay coat, thick 100% wool and medium length. The man on the far right is wearing the same thing, but full length. This is what I would be wearing if driving an antique car in the winter.

The front car appears to be a 1910 Olds Limited and the rear or darker car appears to be a 1912 Olds Limited. The 1910 car has a lower hood line because of the smaller engine (505cid vs 707 cid) and the half front doors. The 1912 car has the louvered front doors and the windshield frame that will allow the upper windshield to open as well as pivot. 1911 Limiteds did not have this windshield feature. Neither of these cars would be a fun ride in the snow.

If it's as cold as it can get in Canada and if that's just water being put into the radiator it will likely freeze before the engine can be started.

The dark Oldsmobile seems to be a 1910 Defender, recognizable by the the louvres on the front doors. The other car is a 1910 Oldsmobile limited.

The dark car looks like an Oldsmobile Limited about 1912. The lighter colored one might also be an Oldsmobile. It has Solar Eclipse brass headlamps for sure.

Greetings from sunny Australia.
The car on the left has no snow on it and the one on the right has lots. Does this suggest that one spent the night under cover and the other did not? Did the righthand car have a problem and was left overnight and they all came out to rescue it the next day. Maybe the bloke with what looks like a square petrol... I mean square gas container, actually, putting some warm water in the radiator, anti freeze you might say. Is the only lady in the group the driver of the rescue vehicle or are the cars both right hand drive? I couldn't tell the make of either vehicle but I think they were built between 1905 and 1912 and are of North American design. Coming from a continent with very little snow, I wonder if putting warm water in a frozen radiator recommended?
