“Unsure on the Autocrat, but dad always mentioned the name”

The attached photographs were recently unearthed. Roderick, who found them, asked us if we can tell him more about the PreWarCar we see. He wrote to us “ unsure of the car make yet my dad talked of his father owning an Autocrat car and wondered if any readers could identify what it is”. He also added that his brother thinks the car is an Autocrat. We think he is right.

In the pictures, we see Roderick's grandparents James Clark Renfrew and Mary (nee Wallace) Renfrew with his father James Clark Wallace Renfrew and brother George sitting on his mum's knee. On the second photograph, they are better visible. The family farmed in the Cumbernauld, Gatehead and West Kilbride areas of Scotland. Who the two men standing next to the car are, we don't know.

Back to the question. Do you guys agree on the car being an Autocrat? Please comment below if you can tell us more about the make and model we see here. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Words by the editor. Photographs sent in by Roderick George Renfrew.
