Used and abused! (upd. Where is GT6395 now?)

This Austin Taxi was given to my Boy Scout Troop in around 1955. The owner had gone to get a new front tyre for the cab but apparantly he considered the cost was greater than the cabs value so gave it to us. The picture shows the cab being push started to undertake the journey back to Edgware Middlessex from a camping site holiday. It was used in this conditon for several years and was a huge testimony to the durability of these Austins. It was always overloaded as can be seen from the picture. On the rear panel there were the slogans of the time. "Don't laugh madam your daughter may be inside" and "Suicide and passing side" So much fun for no money"
This cab is listed in the records of the London Cab suppliers Mann Overton and was supplied in 1931

Hello Mike.

Please get in touch with me on [email protected]. I will be glad to put an article in the next copy of the Vintage Austin Register's magazine where someone may know what happened to the Taxi.

Best wishes,
John.
