What is it? Quiz #399

Is it a 'cyclecar' or a 'runabout' - we've seen it called both. Made in England on the south coast and starts as far back as 1909. Not only do we want the name, but also what went on beneath the bonnet. If you can show us another picture of this car you are very likely to win! The makers evidently liked to stay clean because the mudguards cover more than half the wheel.

Please give us any relevant information you may have on this particular car. Starting with Make, Year and Type. Plus whatever you can come up with, that is to say within 100 words. Please post your answer in the comment box below (please do not email) and be sure to read The Rules under Read More. This may be your chance to win the infamous PreWarCar T-shirt and wear with pride at this season's events! Results will be published next Saturday, July 25.

It's a Worthington Runabout cyclecar produced by Worthington Bros., Hythe, Kent circa 1911/1912 as it appears to have a 8 hp JAP V-twin rather than the Worthington's horizontal twin also of 8 hp. However is it a prototype or was a production model produced. The Light Car and Cyclecar magazine was founded in 1912. Did they ever feature, in any fashion, the Worthington Runabout? I don't have an early edition.

Sorry, I don't have another photo of the Worthington Runabout.

I'm a jury member.

thanks, James
