Whatisit? Quiz # 273

We found today’s quiz car on the parkinglot at an important Concours d'Elegance. It should have been inside! This car was based on a 1920s automobile for the masses. Someone (who?) came up with a better idea and decided to improve on this make. Flatter springs fore and aft were used, better shock absorbers at the rear and a spring-spoked steering wheel to counter the woolly steering of the original. The side-valve engine was of course seen to, the braking system was uprated (although that was of little or no improvement on the original) and wire wheels with five-stud hubs were added. And of course a “sporting” body with two-tone paintwork with engine-turned effect. Do you already know what we are talking about? If so, give us the name of this make plus the model name. There’s a further nomenclature we would like to hear from you, but we will not judge too strict on that as there were several models, but that’s very difficult to see from these pictures. The radiator carried two different badges, but of course we removed them both! This last remark should also give you a clue about the year of this car. Please read the rules first and then send us your answer through our Contact Form before Monday, April 26. Have a wonderful weekend!
