Whatisit? Quiz # 323

•

A great photo of the preparations for a speed test. Take a look at the track (click main photo) and we think you'll have no trouble finding out where this attempt took place. Below the streamlined racing body, you'll find in fact a standard production automobile from a renowned manufacturer. The driver had set a record on this track many years before with a specially prepared racing car, but this time he wanted to show that he could do it again in a production automobile. He choose this car because it had already proven itself in other races. Do you think you can tell us the make, the name of the driver, dates and place? Then please give us your answer in 100 words (preferably less) telling us all you know about it. You can use the Contact Form or the 'Add new comment' box below, but due to this weekend being Whitsunday and Memorial Day, we allow you one extra day to mull this over, so we expect your answer no later than Tuesday, May 29. Enjoy yourselves and if you go racing this weekend, take care!
