Where to find the results of the 1913 Alpine Trial?

Hundred years ago a team of three Rolls-Royces was entered for the 1913 Alpine Trial, a grueling rally across many mountain passes in the Austrian, Swiss, and Italian Alps. Apart from the works team a privateer, James Radley, also entered his 1913 Silver Ghost. He is shown in the picture above. Due to meticulous preparation both works team and privateer did very well. On the first day Radley had completed the course by lunchtime, the three other Silver Ghosts arriving 45 minutes later. The following days the Rolls-Royce team led from the front; in fact James Radley even got frustrated at the slow pace set by the official car. The works team of Friese and Plaford was one of four cars to arrive at the finish without penalty and received a prize from the Archduke of Austria. Radley - who seems to have led the rally most of the way - was awarded (only?) a prize by the City of Trieste. Why was this? What happened? We have searched the web, but cannot find the final results of this 1913 Alpine Trial? Can you tell us?

Anyway, Radley's 1913 Rolls Royce Siver Ghost will be one of forty Silver Ghosts to take part in the recreation of the 1913 Alpine Trial, which is to depart from Vienna this Friday and returning on June 29.

Is this not the same car that was found doing service as a breakdown truck with a hook on the back???? Maybe the owner can clarify?

Peter,
That's what the rules stated ! ! Vehicles shall be started in No more than one minute.
But it took Radley 3 minutes !
Yes, he'd probably had a quick start beforehand, got it warmed up, and flooded the carb, therefore screwing his chances.
When he finally did start, he was almost penalised for speeding, doing 70mph, in his attempt to catch up to the RR team,(who he was pace for) and catching up the Organisers pace cars, who were only doing 25mph !

more than a minute to start your RR? For my '35 Bentley, I turn on the switch, set the start controls, push the start button and it starts, usually on the very 1st movement of the engine. Does not matter how long the engine has been off. Try retarding your spark control.

it takes more than minute to start my 1934 RR, Stuart, so it doesn't seem 100% fair, especially if others started their cars a few minutes beforehand and turned them off again for the judges. Who thinks that such a trial was fair ?

What a wonderful pair of photographs! The 2013 one beautifully posed to echo the 1913 one, brilliant!

Radley, received penalty points on Stage 5 for taking longer than 1 minute to start his car.
3 other vehicles finished with NO penalty points
Therefore even though he led the trial, he still had penalty points, but despite this was awarded the City of Trieste prize !
