With your pre-war to the cinema back in 1938

On the first photograph, you see the Empire Cinema, on Mile End Road, London, 1938. The first building on this site was the Eagle public house, built in 1848, which later became Lusby's, Music Hall. Destroyed by fire in 1884, it was rebuilt as the Paragon Theatre of Varieties. In 1912 the theatre was renamed the Mile End Empire and used as a cinema. In 1934 it was taken over by the ABC circuit, before being rebuilt in 1939.

On the second photograph, we see the Mayfair Cinema, Brick Lane, London, 1939. Formerly the Brick Lane Palace which was demolished in 1935 and rebuilt, the Mayfair became the Odeon on 12 February 1950. In 1967 the Odeon closed but the theatre was to reopen in 1974 as the Naz, the first Asian cinema and it now Café Naz.

The car on both photographs looks like the same one. Are we correct? Can anyone tell us more about the make and maybe the type of this pre-war?

Looks like a Wolseley from the mid-1930s; possibly a Nine or a Hornet.

The looks to me to be a Standard from about 1934 - possible a 12 HP - the 16 HP and 20 HP cars were virtually identical to the 12 with the exception of a longer bonnet to allow for the 6 cylinder engine
